Maisie Dobbs...needs to get her groove back

Jacqueline Winspear: the "Maisie Dobbs" books:  the themes are seriously heavy but they have reeled me in with their exploration of the psychological/social fall out from World War I.  I only wish that after the 3 intense books I've read...well, I wish something great would happen for Maisie.  Not an easy happy ending, but at least a decent night out or some flowers from a stranger.  A pet dog.  Something!
